Digital Imaging

We would like to introduce you to a new technology that is available to monitor your eye health. Dr. Shorrock and Dr. Michelle recommend these procedures to: all new patients, those over 55, anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or headaches. If you have any history of floaters or flashing lights or macular degeneration or if you have any family history of any eye related issues, we recommend retinal photos.

Digital Retinal Imaging

Our office recommends a new state-of-the-art diagnostic procedure called Digital Retinal Imaging. The digital retinal imaging system takes photographs of your retina (the back of your eye) as well as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). This imaging assists the doctor in the early detection and management of many disorders, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other vision threatening conditions. These images are stored in the computer and are compared with images from future exams.

FDT Visual Field Screening

Our office recommends a new Computerized Virtual Field Screening every year to all of our patients. The visual field testing allows us to check your optic nerve health by testing the function of the connections between your eyes and your brain. This procedure assists the doctor in early detection of many disorders including glaucoma, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, retinal detachments, and many other disorders.

Corneal Topography

Corneal topography is a special photography technique that maps the surface of the clear, front window of the eye (the cornea). It works much like a 3D (three-dimensional) map of the world, that helps identify features like mountains and valleys. This technology is instrumental in early detection of corneal ectasias and dry eye disease.

Meibography

A meibography is an image of the morphology of the meibomian glands. Different technologies exist to perform a meibography in a non-invasive manner. Meibography is used in meibomian gland dysfunction diagnosis.
